‘I’m too old for drama’ – Selena Gomez withdraws from social media
JUST crowned owner of the Instagram account with the most followers, Selena Gomez has announced that she wants to take a break from social media.
Gomez went live on TikTok on Thursday to announce her temporary retreat from social media, due to the controversy surrounding her, her best friend Taylor Swift and the wife of ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber.
Gomez said, she will not apologize for being herself and is happy to be surrounded by many good friends and loyal fans who support her.
“I’m going to take a break from social media because what’s going on right now is pretty stupid and I’m 30. I’m too old for this.
“But I love you all very much and I will see you all later. I just need to rest for a while,” she said in the live session.
Gomez has also deactivated her TikTok account. However, her Instagram account is still active.
The controversy began early Thursday when an old video was uploaded to a TikTok account, showing Hailey and Method Man, who was then hosting Drop The Mic , discussing Swift’s songs.
Method Man teased Hailey with the lyrics of a song about a celebrity on Swift’s album, with Hailey acting like she wanted to throw up.
The video’s caption reads “This is the real Hailey Bieber,” calling out Hailey as a ‘bully’ and a ‘mean girl.’
Gomez later left a comment on the video defending Swift and her music.
“Sorry, my best friend is the best and will continue to be one of the best in the industry,” Gomez wrote.
Gomez and Swift have been best friends since 2008.
Gomez was also in a relationship for almost eight years with Justin Bieber, before the pop star married Hailey.
