“I’m not crazy, I still can remember the lyrics and can recite Al-Quran” – Zaiton Sameon

Veteran SINGER, Zaiton Sameon, 66, feels aggrieved by the negative comments thrown at him without knowing his true condition.

According to Zaiton, she is still sane and still able to perform and remember the lyrics of her songs.

“When I returned home everyone said I was crazy. Am I crazy? I’m not crazy. I said if I’m crazy, I’ve killed people.

“I can still sing, remember the lyrics and can drive,” she said .

Zaiton said this after the Handicapped Persons (OKU) card handover ceremony which was also attended by the Director of the Social Welfare Department, Che Samsuzuki Che Noh recently.

Telling her story, Zaiton also admitted that she was sad when a fellow artist badmouthed her.

“Some backstabbed the organizers and said I can’t sing.

“Who doesn’t feel sad when someone says that, I’m ready to say something. I can still remember the lyrics and sing along. I can even study.

“Honestly, I feel a little sad when there are no offers to sing, including for the 15th General Election (GE15) campaign.

“At least the year before I was also called,” she explained.

Earlier, Zaiton was eligible to receive the physical category OKU status after being diagnosed with Traumatic Brain Injuries by the hospital following a horrific accident that nearly claimed her life in 1990.

In the accident, her son, Azirwan Abu Bakar, was killed in the accident.
