I accept advice, criticism with an open heart – Khairul Aming

KUALA LUMPUR: Social media influencer, Khairul Aming, admitted that he openly accepted the reprimands and advice given regarding the issue of using excessive cooking oil in his cooking.

As soon as it went viral on Twitter, a health expert reprimanded his cooking method which was considered unhealthy and risky for any individual.

However, the social media cooking celebrity responded to the criticism on her Instagram account, giving an explanation from the perspective of the overweight individual and the perspective of the content creator.

The owner, whose real name is Khairul Amin Kamarulzaman, also shared his weight loss journey with nutritional care and exercise.

In addition, the influencer with 3.1 million followers on TikTok also said that as a culinary influencer on social media, he needs to show how to prepare food correctly and with enough ingredients so as not to deviate from the original recipe.

“First of all, we can reduce the oil, we can change the recipe, we can change the ingredients, but it will not be as tasty as the original.

“If we want delicious sambal, we have to cook it with a lot of oil so that it breaks down. If we want juicy and crispy fried chicken , we have to deep fry and fry it with a lot of oil.

“If you want creamy mac and cheese , you have to add more cheese. That’s the way. If we want to change it, we can, but it won’t be like the original . That’s all,” he said.

He added that it is his responsibility to ensure that every recipe produced is accurate and not questioned by any individual.

However, he reminded the public to control food intake if it is feared that the menu may pose a health risk.

“I show you how many spoons of sugar, how much oil to use, because I want to share the reality. This is the real way to prepare it out there,

“So, if I change the recipe and it doesn’t taste good, people will curse me back. So, I cannot win, I cannot please anyone.

“But, most importantly, when the food is ready, you can all control the portions ,” explained Khairul Aming.

Earlier, it went viral on Twitter, Dr. Rafidah Abdullah advised Khairul Aming to reduce frying-based cooking and the use of a lot of oil.

According to him, it is feared to influence unhealthy eating practices among the Malaysian community.

The advice received various reactions from netizens on Twitter while some described the advice as inadequate following Khairul Aming only doing his job as a culinary influencer on social media.
