Hundreds of thousands attended the Thaipusam welcome at Batu Caves

KUALA LUMPUR: Hundreds of thousands of visitors are expected to come to celebrate the Thaipusam festival at Batu Caves near here today.

In fact, according to the security guard on duty who was found, the congestion in the area started as early as 1 am.

However, the situation is controlled and smooth so far with the religious ceremonies of the devotees being able to be carried out without any problems.

The variety of kavadi parades also attracts the attention of visitors who are not only locals but also foreigners.

Most of them were clearly mesmerized by the uniqueness of the Thaipusam celebration as one of the festivals of the multi-racial community in Malaysia which is celebrated so harmoniously.

Yesterday Acting Selangor Police Chief Datuk S Sasikala Devi said that her side had taken all measures and preliminary preparations to ensure the safety of visitors.

According to her, nearly 2,000 police personnel in collaboration with 11 external agencies were stationed around the Batu Caves area to control the situation in conjunction with the Thaipusam celebration this time.

She also said that the police expected more than 300,000 visitors to be at Batu Caves from yesterday evening until today.
