HAWANA 2023 supports the concept of well-being, sustainability parallel to Malaysia Madani
CELEBRATION of National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA) 2023 is an appreciation and recognition for media practitioners and the journalism industry who support the concept of well-being and sustainability in line with MADANI Malaysia.
Deputy Secretary General (Management and Development) of the Ministry of Local Government Development (KPKT) Muhammad Razman Abu Samah said the HAWANA celebration should be held to give appreciation to media practitioners and the journalism industry around the world, especially in Malaysia.
“This is because the function and role of media practitioners is important in disseminating accurate and authentic information with the desired timing,” he said.
He said this after presenting the contribution as a strategic partner for the organization of HAWANA 2023 to the Head of Broadcasting (TV and Radio) of the National News Agency of Malaysia (Bernama) D. Arul Rajoo and Head of Strategic Planning of Bernama Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin at KPKT here today.
The celebration of HAWANA 2023, which is the third time that it has been organized, will take place in Ipoh, Perak from 27 to 29 May with the theme ‘Free Media, Pillar of Democracy’ with renewed emphasis on the issue of media freedom in carrying out its duties.
The celebration will be filled with various activities such as a media forum involving journalists from ASEAN countries, a mini carnival and a treasure hunt competition.
The HAWANA 2023 Summit will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on 28 May.
Muhammad Razman said the contribution of media practitioners is important to support the aspirations of KPKT in all efforts to improve the well-being of the people and the sustainability of the city.
“Their role in delivering accurate and true information is very important to ensure that all government information and policies can be delivered to the people, especially in the rural areas,” he said KPKT always appreciates the services of journalists.
