Governments and employers must invest, explore the application of AI in the world of work
The use of this new technology will be able to encourage women’s participation in the national job market.
KUALA LUMPUR: The government and employers need to invest and explore the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the daily operations of organizations and enterprises.
Human Resource Development Consultant, Faizal Riduan said this is to ensure that flexible work arrangements can be implemented more effectively, with the ability of the new technology to monitor employee activities.
“When we talk about artificial intelligence (AI) and technology, I think employers and the government need to invest in things like this to monitor employee activities. We need to explore this AI to monitor employee productivity and progress.
“And I think the government needs to help here. Previously, the government provided funds for the salary payment system. The system is good but the government needs to explore so that this flexible work arrangement can become our culture in Malaysia,” he said .
Faizal explained, with the use of this new technology, it is able to encourage women’s participation in the national job market. In fact, it will help keep women working.
“One issue in Malaysia that we need to consider is that we lack female labor force participation. Although our women are more educated, but when they enter the industry, they get married, give birth to a child, and then continue to disappear. She will be a housewife.
“Because our industry does not really support working women and mothers. Our female participation rate in the job market is only 55 percent. If we look at neighboring countries such as Singapore, their female worker participation rate is 69.7 percent, while Thailand’s is 66.8,” he said.
