Gawai 2022: ‘Ngabang’ and open houses justified – UNIFOR
KUCHING: The Other Religious Affairs Unit (UNIFOR) has completely banned COVID-19 positive individuals from participating in any activities organized during the Gawai Day Celebration in Sarawak.
While individuals with symptoms of all ages and who are not fully vaccinated are also not encouraged to participate in community activities during the celebration of the festival.
The ban is among the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) issued by UNIFOR in conjunction with the Gawai Day Celebration in 2022 which will be celebrated from the night of May 31 to June 2.
UNIFOR through a statement on Thursday also allowed the Dayak community in the state to hold some activities that were previously banned before the country’s transition to the endemic phase on May 1.
The activities allowed are pre -service celebrations, prayers at the house of worship, open houses, banquets after prayers at the house of worship, ngabang (pilgrimage activities), and open or closed service day ceremonies.
“The capacity in the synagogue is one hundred percent but the congregation is required to wear a half face mask, practice 3W ethics (wash, wear, warn) and avoid 3C (crowded, narrow, close chat), and are encouraged to wear face mask when not eating,” he commented. the statement in question.
