Forrest Gump chocolate box auctioned for US$25,000
LONDON: Tom Hanks’ famous box of chocolates in the 1994 film Forrest Gump was auctioned for US$25,000.
The American franchise, Ripley’s Believe It or Not!, is bidding on the famous prop in time for Valentine’s Day on February 14, the German Press Agency (dpa) reported.
The box is signed by Hanks, while it weighs around 23 ounces and was once filled with four ounces of sand so it wouldn’t fall off the actor’s lap during filming.
The film won six Academy Awards in 1995 including best picture, best director, and best actor for Hanks.
It grossed US$678 million worldwide during its initial run.
Another item Ripley acquired was a personal notebook belonging to Beatles manager Brian Epstein.
The book features the band’s address and phone number, as well as Sir Mick Jagger’s.
