Food Security Carnival @ Perak Sejahtera 2030 in Lubok Merbau this Sunday
IPOH: The Food Security Carnival @ Perak Sejahtera 2030 at Millenium Hall, Lubok Merbau about 30 kilometers (km) from here for two days starting this Sunday, will give visitors the opportunity to buy daily necessities based on agro-based industrial products, food and downstream, at a lower price than in the market.
Accordingly, the public is invited to enjoy the carnival, organized by the Perak State Agricultural Development Corporation (Perak SADC) in collaboration with the Perak Chief Minister’s Office and the state Department of Agriculture.
Perak SADC in a statement on Friday said it also held a ‘Happy Hour’ sales session in collaboration with Kedai Bergerak Negeri Perak, involving kitchen items such as chicken for as low as RM4 apiece, grade B eggs for RM10 a pack, as well as tilapia fish for RM10 a kilogram.
“This carnival also offers basic agricultural industry products based on meat, vegetables, including fruits and saplings as well as various other necessities involving various government agencies,” according to the statement.
According to him, in addition to sales activities, the carnival also featured agricultural exhibitions as well as the opening of customer service counters from various agencies involved.
Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad is scheduled to launch the Perak State Food Security Action Plan Direction which is one of the components or ‘flagship’ programs in the Prosperous Perak 2030 plan, at the carnival.
According to the statement, Saarani is expected to hold an information session related to Prosperous Perak 2030 for farmers, ranchers and entrepreneurs who are directly involved in the sector.
According to him, this carnival is also enlivened with side events such as the Prosperous Silver Cycling program involving a distance of eight kilometers in the area around Lubok Merbau.
More interestingly, the participants will plant coconut trees along the cycling route, in certain locations such as Kampung Labu Kubong, Kampung Rambong and Kampung Lubok Merbau.
