PUTRAJAYA: A festival that showcases various species and flowers as well as decorative plants, Floria Diraja Putrajaya 2022 which was supposed to end this Sunday has been extended until next Tuesday (Sept 6) following an overwhelming response from the public.

Director of Park Planning and Development Division, Landscape Department, Putrajaya Corporation Haslinda Khalid said the extra two days will give more visitors the opportunity to the festival in conjunction with the school holidays.

“Since Floria Diraja Putrajaya 2022 was opened to the public on August 29, it received a very encouraging response. During the holiday last Wednesday, in conjunction with National Day, the festival received non-stop visitors from morning to night.

“From the original proposal of Sept 4, we have extended two days to encourage and invite all Malaysian families to come together with their family members in conjunction with the school holidays,” he told the media here today, adding that the extension was also a request from the Minister of Federal Territories Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim.

“We are arranging for additional activities and programs for the two days and even if the flowers here are dry or withered, we will replace them,” she said. The participants, contractors and traders also welcomed the decision to extend the duration of the festival.

Located in Anjung Floria, Precinct 4 here, there are about 10,000 orchids and 400,000 plants of various species on display there.

Floria Diraja Putrajaya 2022 also showcased the Malaysian Family Garden with a concept adapted through three values, namely Inclusion, Togetherness and Gratitude.

Among the components at the festival are the Malaysian Family Park, the Cowboy and Succulent Park, the Instagrammable Park, the Orchid Wall Decoration and the Oncidium Tunnel.

An entrance fee of RM15 is charged for adults, RM5 each for the elderly and children aged seven to 12, while for foreign tourists, a fee of RM100 is charged.
