Floor 88 didn’t think long, and immediately accepted Wali Band’s collaboration request

After almost six years of not performing in Kuala Lumpur, the successful invitation to the Dream Festival Collaboration Vol.2 concert is described by the popular Indonesian group, Wali Band as a space to return to pamper Malaysian fans who continue to loyally support their cause.

Wali Band’s drummer, Ihsan Bustomi or Tomi, in a virtual press conference session on Tuesday, said that they were moved when they received the trust to perform in Kuala Lumpur, besides being excited to be able to share the stage with a group that is growing in popularity in Malaysia, namely Floor 88.

Dream Festival Collaboration Vol. 2 will take place at Zepp Kuala Lumpur next May 20, witnessing the Wali Band performing for an hour and a half performing a variety of their popular and latest songs.

“If asked about preparations, we are still looking at the list of songs that are fans’ favorites in Malaysia. We also get the opinions of fans, especially on social media about the songs they like.

“From there, we will frame a suitable performance concept to give satisfaction to the fans there, not to mention that we have not performed in Kuala Lumpur for almost six years,” he said.

Besides Tomi, Wali Band which was previously known as Fiera also consists of Farhan Zainal Muttaqin or Faank (vocalist), Aan Kurnia (Apoy/guitarist) and Hamzah Shopi (Ovie/keyboard).

Starting their artistic career in 1999, Wali Band’s popularity led them to travel to the Asian region, including South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong to promote their music.

Proud to share the stage with Floor 88

Commenting on the collaboration with Floor 88, Tomi said, Wali Band is proud to share the stage with a group of great Malaysian musicians whose popularity is also contagious in Indonesia.

“Floor 88’s song is no stranger to us and we consider the opportunity to meet and make friends through Dream Festival Collaboration Vol.2 a great honor. We are very happy to work with the most hyped band in Malaysia.

“For sure, we will collaborate with them on stage later. What is important is that the songs chosen will make the fans who come happy and satisfied watching our performance,” he said.

Wali Band, who will be performing around 15 to 17 popular songs, also hopes that Dream Festival Collaboration Vol.2, which also has the support of Suria FM as the official radio station, will be a lively and entertaining event for fans in the country.

Wali Band’s popular songs include Doaku Untukmu Sayang, Cari Jodoh, Baik-Baik Sayang and Ada Gajah Di Balik Batu.

Golden opportunity with Wali Band

Meanwhile, Floor 88 described the offer to perform with Wali Band as a golden opportunity, not to mention the work of the popular Indonesian group is always their reference.

“We are grateful to have been chosen to share the stage with a big name like Wali Band. This is a golden opportunity for us to gain experience with a group that has been in the music industry for 24 years.

“Of course we can’t wait to meet the musician who has been our reference since we were in school. Sharing the stage with them is a great honor and we will do our best for the concert later,” said the vocalist, Ayie.

Besides Ayie, Floor 88 is also lined up with Eric Fuzi (keyboard), Achoi (guitar), Falique (bass), Akram (drums) and Amir (second guitar).

I don’t think it’s long

Eric said, because they were too excited, they continued to give their consent as soon as they received the invitation to perform with the Wali Band.

“Many are waiting for their appearance here. Certainly through this collaboration, we hope it will have a new impact on the Malaysian and Indonesian music industry.

“Music is universal and connects people universally. What’s more, the music performed by Wali Band and Floor 88 is not much different when it comes to combining elements of humor and messages that are rarely highlighted by other musicians,” he said.

For DreamFestWorld Project Director, Rama Ananda Ambri said, Dream Festival Collaboration is an important point for Malaysian and Indonesian music artists when it highlights the pairing of popular names with great potential from the two countries performing on one stage.

Rama Ananda or fondly called Anda said, their hope is to see the Dream Festival Collaboration become a whole brand, thus celebrating the great works of regional musicians.

In that regard, he said, they have a big dream to bring talents from Malaysia to perform in the Dream Festival performance series in Indonesia later.

“We hope that this initiative driven by Inspire IDN can leave a beautiful memory, thus giving appreciation to the efforts of artists from both countries through the sharing of ideas and performances,” he said.
