Unity Package: ministry to introduce fixed-line internet plan for B40
Communications and Digital Minister has said that secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohammad Mentek had been directed to hold negotiations with the relevant parties concerning the introduction of fixed-line internet Unity Package for the B40 community.
PUTRAJAYA: Fixed line Internet Unity Package specifically for the B40 group in the country will be introduced, said Communications and Digital Minister .
At the 2023 Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) Monthly Assembly here today, he said KKD Chief Secretary (KSU) Datuk Seri Mohammad Mentek had been instructed to negotiate with relevant parties regarding the package.
“Previously we have announced the Mobile Internet Prepaid Unity Package for mobile phones. After this we will send KSU (negotiate), to ensure the Unity Package for fixed line broadband Internet,” he said.
Previously, Fahmi announced the Mobile Internet Prepaid Unity Data Plan at twice the price of RM5 per month and three times faster, which will be on the market from February.
The implementation of the package involves five telecommunication service providers namely CelcomDigi, Maxis, UMobile, Telekom Malaysia (TM) and YTL Communications.
Meanwhile, Fahmi said telecommunications service providers played an important role in completing the three percent of Internet access in areas that had not been resolved and the remaining 97 percent that were detected to have potholes.
Fahmi said he and his deputy Teo Nie Ching will ensure that the Internet issue in the country is resolved as soon as possible.
