Five ‘strange’ things happened during the Itaewon Halloween tragedy

SEOUL: The Halloween tragedy in Itaewon continues to be the focus of the world when it claimed 154 lives last Saturday night.

Citing a CNN Indonesia report , there were some strange things that happened at the Halloween party held in the Itaewon area.

Here are some of the ‘strange’ things that happened at a Halloween party that ended in horrible tragedy.

1). An estimated 100,000 people gathered to celebrate Halloween

According to the Korea Herald portal , an estimated 100,000 people descended on Itaewon, not wearing face masks and not keeping their distance.

Many dressed up in horror costumes and make-up.

Not only South Koreans, foreigners also celebrate by attending this party.

2). The night club remains open until 4 am

Although the commotion broke out at around 10.30pm, several nightclubs in the area continued to operate as usual.

The club’s visitors also remained entertained despite the horrific tragedy that was taking place in the area.

There is a night club that operates until 4 am.

3). Drug users at parties fight

A witness revealed that there were visitors who took drugs and fought during the Halloween tragedy in Itaewon.

Witness, Park Jung Hoon said, the incident started when a drug user started fighting with several people.

The situation is reported to have become more chaotic due to injuries caused by high heels hitting the thighs of visitors.

Park then said he arrived at the location at 10pm local time and saw the situation in Itaewon exactly like a ‘war zone’.

4). Driven away by the shop owner

A witness also told that some shop owners evicted individuals who tried to take shelter in their shop during the incident.

Witnesses and victims blamed the owners of nearby bars and clubs for preventing people from trying to get out of the narrow alley.

“Some tried to save themselves by entering a nearby shop but were driven back to the road because the working hours had ended,” said a witness to the Yonhap news agency .

5). Visitors are still entertained

Despite being reminded by the authorities to postpone the celebration, there are visitors who continue to have fun at several nightclubs in nearby locations.

The Seoul Police arrived at the location at 11.19pm local time, 49 minutes after the report was received.

“Please go home. This will help us, please go home,” the police reportedly instructed.

However, there are visitors who ignore the warning.

At around 2am local time, people dressed in horror costumes were seen busily taking pictures in the alley near the scene.
