Fans upset Celine Dion snubbed from Rolling Stone list of greatest singers

A new list from the music magazine celebrates many of the greatest singers, but has left out the French Canadian songstress

Celine Dion revealed on December 8, that she is suffering from a ‘very rare neurological disorder’, which has forced her to postpone concerts on her ‘Courage World Tour’ in Europe.

ON New Year’s Day, Rolling Stone released an updated list of the 200 greatest singers of all time – having published the first edition in 2008.

The top 20 is filled with a who’s who of some of the most acclaimed singers of all time such as Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Beyonce, John Lennon, Freddie Mercury, Bob Dylan, Prince, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and Marvin Gaye. Aretha Franklin took the top spot.

To the shock of her many fans, Celine Dion not only was not in the top 20 but did not make the list at all.

Sure, Rolling Stone made sure to say: “keep in mind that this is the Greatest Singers list, not the Greatest Voices List” but that’s not good enough for many fans.

Over the course of her decades-long career, Dion has won two World Music Awards, seven Billboard Awards, and five Grammys, to name a few. She has sold 10 million albums worldwide, being one of the very few female artists to do so.

She has not responded to the ‘snub’, having shared a video on social media on Christmas Day, despite her recent health issues.

Dion had recently been diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder, Stiff Person Syndrome. The illness causes a person’s muscles in the limbs and torso to suffer spasms and rigidity. The spasms are either random or triggered by a variety of things like loud noises, and emotional distress.
