Fano Guitars and Novo Guitars Embark on a New Chapter Under Dennis Fano’s Leadership

21 January 2025. / Two iconic American guitar brands, Fano Guitars and Novo Guitars, have announced their merger under a new parent company, Psonic Design Lab, based in the UK. Both brands, established in 1996 and 2015 respectively, have earned a global reputation for crafting high-quality musical instruments. As part of the merger, Dennis Fano will assume the role of Chairman of Psonic Design Lab and Head of Product Design. Fano, who stepped away from Fano Guitars nine years ago, expressed his excitement about reclaiming his legacy. “After nearly a decade away from Fano, I’ve always felt there was unfinished business. While I’ve focused on Novo Guitars, I’ve long hoped for the chance to return to my roots,” he shared. “That day has arrived! Psonic Design Lab is merging Fano and Novo in an exciting way. Graham Dowling has done a fantastic job maintaining the high standards of Fano during my absence, and I have a great team committed to building top-tier instruments.”

Graham Dowling, who has owned Fano Guitars for the past eight years, will continue as Director of Fano Guitars. He expressed his enthusiasm for the merger, saying, “This new chapter is thrilling. It’s the next step in taking the brand to new heights and fulfilling the potential we’ve always envisioned. Dennis’ work with both Fano and Novo has been inspirational, and I’m excited to collaborate with him as we unite the brands.”

The production of Fano Guitars will be moved to an expanded Novo manufacturing facility in Nashville, with the Fano team relocating to Tennessee. Psonic Design Lab’s management will be led by Neil Reed, a British media executive, as CEO, with Travis Tingley from Novo Guitars appointed COO to oversee operations for both brands in Nashville. A unified sales force will be led by Chad Hines for the US market and Steve Gray for international sales. The team will also benefit from the expertise of Lamar McKay, former Deputy CEO of BP Plc, who will join as a Non-Executive Director.

Neil Reed, who has been involved with Fano Guitars for two years, expressed confidence in the merger’s potential: “Psonic Design Lab will continue fostering the creative culture of both Fano and Novo, while also unlocking new opportunities that weren’t available when we were independent. We look forward to unveiling more exciting news soon.”

Both brands recently launched new models, with Fano Guitars unveiling the Alt de Facto RB12, a 12-string electric guitar, and Novo Guitars introducing the Ivorus Bass and Voltur B6 models. The brands will showcase their new instruments at the 2025 NAMM Show in Anaheim, California, from January 23-25.
