Faced with allegations of fan rape, the screening of ‘A Very Backstreet Holiday’ was cancelled

LOS ANGELES: A Very Backstreet Holiday special show has been pulled by ABC television following a lawsuit against one of the group’s members, Nick Carter.

Citing a BBC report , Shannon Ruth, 39, claimed to have been raped while the group was on tour in 2001. At the time, Ruth claimed she was 17 years old.

A Very Backstreet Holiday is scheduled to air on December 14, however, it has not yet been listed in the popular channel’s Christmas special program.

In the meantime, a civil investigation case filed in Las Vegas alleges that she once fancied bands synonymous with Everybody, I Want It That Way, Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely and more.

However, Carter’s lawyers said the allegations had “no merit in law” and were “completely untrue”.

News of ABC’s decision to pull the show, which was filming this month, was reported by popular entertainment portal Variety and the Hollywood Reporter , which added that a comedy show will be shown instead.

Ruth, who has cerebral palsy and is autistic, also accused Carter of raping her and causing her to contract a sexually transmitted infection.

A Very Backstreet Holiday show features Carter, AJ McLean, Kevin Richardson, Brian Littrell and Howie Dorough invited to perform hits from their 10th album, A Very Backstreet Christmas, with other star appearances including Seth Rogen and Meghan Trainor.
