Emman Azman, wrestling champion in Australia arrives in Malaysia tomorrow

After a long tour in Australia, Emman who was nicknamed “Golden Boy” will return to Malaysia this Friday, at about 3.30 pm to celebrate his success with Malaysians.

KUALA LUMPUR: His name may not be well known, but this 21-year-old young man has big dreams, wanting the sport of ‘pro wrestling’ to have a place in Malaysia.

Started wrestling professionally since the age of 13, Emman Azman created his own history when he won the Melbourne City Wrestling (MCW) Intercommonwealth last November 26.

He was the first local boy to win the tournament after defeating two other wrestlers who were also favorites in the tournament, Mick Moretti and Adam Brooks.

After a long time traveling in Australia, Emman who was nicknamed “Golden Boy” will return to Malaysia this Friday, at about 3.30 pm to celebrate his success with Malaysians.

Some media previously reported that after the success in Australia, Emman reportedly wanted to expand his talent to other countries and popularize the sport in Malaysia.

“My most recent mission was in Japan, the United States, Thailand, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia. I hope to enter Japan and represent Malaysia.

“I advise you to try to become a wrestler and if you like it, you can continue. If you want to have a dream, I insist on just trying,” he said.

For the record, when he was 13 years old, Emman was one of the first four students at the Malaysia Pro Wrestling Centre.

Professional wrestling has previously been the talk of the town after former Education Minister Maszlee Malik expressed support for the sport, suggesting the government help develop the industry.

Maszlee is optimistic that the sport has great potential even though it is categorized as entertainment.

The support received a positive response from professional wrestlers Ayez Shaukat Fonseka Farid and Nor “Phoenix” Diana who welcomed the proposal.
