Elon Musk’s Starship rocket exploded after 4 minutes of launch
SOUTH PADRE ISLAND : A giant SpaceX rocket undergoing test launch exploded minutes after it was launched on Thursday.
AP reported that the rocket had crashed in the Gulf of Mexico.
Billionaire Elon Musk’s company is aiming to launch the Starship rocket, which is 120 meters long, on a journey around the earth.
It was launched from Texas, the United States bordering Mexico.
The rocket, however, did not carry any individuals or satellite equipment.
Initially, the video of the rocket launch was broadcast live by SpaceX to the cheers of its officials.
The captured image shows some segments of the rocket’s 33 engines not achieving the correct burn rate as it took off from the launch site.
There has been no statement from SpaceX regarding the exact number of engines that failed to ignite, or whether they were extinguished prematurely.
Immediately after launch, the propellant-filled rocket was supposed to separate from its main frame, but that didn’t happen. The rocket, which had just reached a height of 39 kilometers, began to deviate and explode after 4 minutes of gliding, then plunged into the waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
A few weeks before launch day, Musk gave a 50-50 probability of the plane’s success reaching orbit.
It is understood that they however declared the launch mission as a successful flight test.
Musk aspires to bring humans to Mars by 2026 and believes that Starship will be the rocket that will take them there.
