Elon Musk unblocks journalists’ Twitter accounts

ANKARA: Elon Musk revoked the decision to block the Twitter accounts of several prominent journalists for allegedly revealing the billionaire’s real-time location after conducting a survey on the social media, Anadolu Agency reported.

“The people have spoken. Accounts tracking my whereabouts will now be reinstated,” Musk tweeted.

Among the accounts suspended without any notification or explanation were Matt Binder of Mashable, Donie O’Sullivan of CNN, Ryan Mac of The New York Times, Drew Harwell of The Washington Post, Micah Lee of The Intercept, Steve Herman of Voice of America and freelance journalists Aaron Rupar, Keith Olbermann and Tony Webster.

The decision came a day after the platform blocked a popular account, @ElonJet that was dedicated to tracking Musk’s private jet.

Musk responded to the ban on Thursday with a tweet that read: “There is no problem criticizing me all day, but it is a problem if it broadcasts my real-time location information and endangers my family.”
