Elon Musk is suing the owner of Elon Jet’s Twitter account

NEW YORK: Billionaire and owner of Twitter, Elon Musk is reported to be taking legal action against the Twitter account holder who tracked the location of his private jet on the grounds that it would put his children at risk.

Citing a BBC report , the @ElonJet Twitter account which now has over half a million followers has been suspended since yesterday.

It is understood that account holder Jack Sweeney, 20, taps the location of the jet every time Musk takes off and lands while using available flight tracking information.

“Last night, the car carrying (his son), X, in Los Angeles while being followed by a crazy spy (he thought it was me) who then stopped the car from moving and climbed onto the front bonnet,” he tweeted.

Musk added, any account that reveals the current location of others will be suspended for violating privacy to the point of threatening physical security.
Meanwhile, Sweeney denied it had anything to do with his Twitter account.

Sweeney, who is a college student in Florida, shared a screenshot with CNN of a message from Twitter that did a ‘thorough review’ and then decided to block his account for violating Twitter’s rules.

Earlier, Musk had taken action on the @ElonJet account and had offered Sweeney US$5,000 (RM22,032) to close the account.

Sweeney said that Musk later informed him that it was not the right course of action to pay to have the account closed.

Musk wrote on Twitter yesterday, “Any other user’s current location information displayed without permission will have their account suspended for offenses under physical security violations. This includes posting links to sites with real-time location information.

At the same time, the Twitter Help Center posted a media policy stating: “You may not publish or post other people’s personal information without permission.”
