Ellie Suriaty, Azri Iskandar divorce finalised
According to Ellie, they are no longer compatible after 19 years together
KUALA LUMPUR: After 19 years of living together as husband and wife, the couple of the country’s famous actresses, Ellie Suriaty Omar and Azri Iskandar ended their marital bond through divorce.
Around 9.34 this morning at the East Gombak Syariah Subordinate Court here, in an atmosphere full of sadness and hiba, Azri pronounced a divorce on Ellie.
Ellie honestly admitted, the divorce was obtained at her request.
Last Ramadan, the big-hearted actress was determined to file for divorce in the relevant court after four years she took time to think about it.
“I didn’t take these two decisions for a day, it’s been four years. This decision was not made by me in anger, frustration or in a hurry.
“Believe me, there are too many things that I thought and considered before asking Azri to release me,” said Ellie in a telephone conversation after her and Azri’s divorce proceedings in court.
In a very calm tone but occasionally heard tears, Ellie, 52, said, before the divorce was filed, she and Azri had sat down to discuss maturely to find an agreement.
Understanding that their two light eyes need to get undivided attention and love, Ellie and Azri agree, let their status as husband and wife alone be dropped, however, the position as mother and father will remain forever.
“I really respect Azri as a man and as a father to our children. He was so mature in handling our marital turmoil and Alhamdulillah, the divorce between us took place in a very pure atmosphere without any problems.
“Our promise, which is separated is the two of us, however, the children will continue to get attention and love. We agree that children cannot be victims of divorce, ”said Ellie sharing the agreement reached with Azri, 54.
The marriage that was built in 2003 between Ellie and Azri brought them a pair of bright eyes Azrell Omar Azri Iskandar, 18 and Nur Azreen, 13 as well as two others who died before they could be born.
