EDOTCO-TIP’s strategic initiative provides 5G/4G solutions in buildings in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: EDOTCO Group announced a strategic initiative with the Telecom Infra Project (TIP) to deploy six pilot solutions in buildings with a ‘Neutral Host’ model and 4G and 5G small cell sharing in identified iconic buildings in Malaysia.
Among the selected iconic buildings are the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), KL Sentral and Merdeka 118, he said in a statement.
The leading integrated telecommunications infrastructure services company in Asia said it has signed a Market Trial Agreement with TIP to increase its product offerings to communities throughout Asia Pacific and the world, starting a pilot phase in cities in Malaysia.
“This initiative will start in Malaysia as part of a pilot series before making 5G connectivity accessible to wider areas of the region over the next three years.
“This effort will provide better indoor coverage for users, in line with the increasing need to generate more traffic in the coming decade,” he said.
By using this solution, EDOTCO said mobile users will be able to enjoy high-speed data, low latency and a metaverse-ready Internet experience.
Through the initiative, TIP will provide strategic direction and technical knowledge to improve global best practices for in-building solutions worldwide.
EDOTCO on the other hand, will own, control, administer and tax the infrastructure as a ‘Neutral Host Network-As-A-Service’ (NaaS) model to telecom operators.
“Having achieved success in implementation, EDOTCO intends to launch sharable small cells in large quantities, replicated in other Asian markets within our reach,” the company said.
He added that the collaboration is proof of EDOTCO’s commitment to building a more sustainable and equitable relationship for the country at the regional and global level.
Since its inception in 2012, EDOTCO has established a regional portfolio of over 54,000 telecommunications towers across nine countries in Southeast and South Asia.
