Drag racer Apeh Jamal was safely buried this morning

IPOH: The drag racer who died while participating in the Battle of The Kings drag race at the Terengganu Motor Circuit in Gong Badak yesterday, was safely buried at the Meru Raya Islamic Cemetery here today.

The body of Apeh Jamal or real name Muhamad Hafez Jamal Jamaludin, 40, was buried at 10.10 am which was also attended by about 200 people consisting of family members and friends.

Before that, the deceased was prayed at Al Muttaqin Taman Meru Mosque here at 9 this morning.

Before that, the body arrived safely at his family’s residence in Puncak Meru here from the Forensic Department of Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) Kuala Terengganu after the post-mortem process was completed.

The deceased, who was the third child of five siblings, leaves behind his wife, Norhasyimah Shairi, 37, and two children aged 11 and seven.

In the incident at about 11.35am yesterday, Muhamad Hafez Jamal driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo was said to be alone doing a race session in an event.

The incident caused the five-day race series that started last Wednesday and was scheduled to end today to be canceled immediately yesterday, by the organizers.

Kuala Terengganu District Police Chief, ACP Abdul Rahim Md Din who confirmed the incident said further investigations are still underway to find out the cause of the incident.
