Dr Rafidah Abdullah apologizes to Khairul Aming

KUALA LUMPUR: Health expert, Dr Rafidah Abdullah apologized to culinary influencer, Khairul Aming for her statement that the influencer did not prioritize health in cooking.

It was after the sarcastic advice addressed to Khairul Aming went viral and got various reactions from netizens.

“I apologize because I see many people mistakenly believe that I accused Khairul Aming of damaging the health of Malaysians, and that my last two sentences should have been in another paragraph.

“However, I hope that any influencer’s video or content has calorie content,” she said in a Twitter thread.

Dr Rafidah also explained that she is not accusing anyone, rather health is the individual’s responsibility.

“I’m not accusing anyone. Your health is your own responsibility. But I have to give my professional opinion about what I saw. Alhamdulillah, many people now realize that sambal is very high in calories. If you want to eat, eating a pinch of two is enough,” she added.

Earlier, it went viral on Twitter when Dr Rafidah advised Khairul Aming to reduce the use of oil in cooking and increase the number of healthy cooking recipes.

She is angry about the use of cooking oil that can affect the health of Malaysians who generally follow Khairul Aming’s 30-day cooking video, 30 recipes in conjunction with the month of Ramadan.

Dr Rafidah explained that most of the patients he treats have chronic health problems as a result of unhealthy eating practices.

“Yes, there are many chronic patients that I treat. On average, they regret their lifestyle choices including their food from the beginning, I only intend to raise awareness, nothing more than that,” she explained.
