Dr Hafiz was shocked that Lufya Omar demanded RM1 million

“YES, I am indeed surprised,” said the ex-husband of singer Lufya Omar, Dr. Che Muhammad Hafiz Che Baharum, who received a notice of adultery amounting to RM1 million despite being divorced three years ago.

Dr Hafiz who was met at the Shah Alam Syariah High Court on Thursday refused to comment further on the claim made by his ex-wife in October last year.

“I want to apologize, this matter is our privacy and I don’t want to give any statement at this time out of respect for my wife.

“It’s true that I’m surprised, no matter what we pray for the best. Hopefully the affairs of all parties will be simplified,” said Dr Hafiz.

The lawyer representing Dr Hafiz, Abdul Hadi Mohamad Salleh, confirmed the amount of the mutaah claim from the plaintiff (Lufya) amounted to RM1 million.

“This mutaah is the ex-husband’s consolation to the ex-wife after divorce. So Lufya made a claim in October 2022 and today is for case management.

“Before this, they had already gone through the sulh (agreement) process but did not reach an agreement. If you follow it, it is correct the amount demanded by the plaintiff.

“However, everything is still in the discussion process and the court will decide according to certain conditions,” he said.

In the meantime, Lufya, who was also present accompanied by a lawyer, looked sullen and avoided being interviewed by the media.

For the record, Lufya married Dr Hafiz on 26 November 2016 and was blessed with Laana Haura who is now five years old.

However, Lufya and Dr Hafiz divorced at the Petaling District Syariah Lower Court, Shah Alam on 17 June 2020.

After three years of being a widower, Dr Hafiz finally married actress Julia Farhana on December 14, 2022.
