Disney+ lets you preview first minutes of new Marvel series

The streaming platform is using a digital treasure hunt to build up excitement around its spy thriller

TO promote its new series ‘Secret Invasion’, landing June 21, Disney+ has decided to put fans of the Marvel universe to work. The American platform has sprinkled multiple clues across its social media publications.

Once collected, these clues open up access to a website that reveals the first five minutes of the series.

On June 21, Disney+ will release its long-awaited new Marvel series ‘Secret Invasion’, starring Samuel L Jackson, Martin Freeman, Emilia Clark, Olivia Colman and Cobie Smulders.

In the run-up to its drop, the streaming platform is using a digital treasure hunt to build up suspense and excitement around its spy thriller.

In fact, the company is capitalising on the fact that theories about the Marvel universe are a popular form of content on social media.

It’s a subject of fascination among fans, who are keen to share their commentary and point of views on posts, thus creating engagement.

And these interactions have not escaped the attention of Disney+, which through such interaction benefits from free, ongoing publicity.

Marvel Studios chose Twitter for its latest publicity offensive, publishing various images that seem to represent a kind of evidence or clue board, with photos and documents linked together by a red thread.

But these images were quickly deleted after publication. And yet, for those who paid attention and assembled photos, it could lead to the discovery of a website: www.theinvasionhasbegun.com.

But to access its contents, you need a secret code. The code could be found in the photos themselves. With many internet users looking for this code, it’s now easy to find it on the web.

Entering the code offers fans access to the first images of the ‘Secret Invasion’ series starring actor Martin Freeman (seen in ‘Black Panther’) in the role of CIA agent Everett K. Ross in modern-day Moscow.

He meets Agent Prescod, who is convinced that the Skrulls, alien creatures capable of taking on the appearance of anyone and anything, have invaded and claims to even have proof.

However, after Agent Ross indicates that he wants to take it to show Nick Fury, Agent Prescod tackles him to the ground.

Over on TikTok, some fans put together videos to share their sleuthing and findings. The hashtag #theinvasionhasbegun, which brings these videos together, now has over 4.6 million views.

The ‘Secret Invasion’ TV show will debut on Disney+ on June 21, and will follow Nick Fury’s fight against the Skrulls to save Earth. Six episodes will make up the first season, with one episode dropping every Wednesday.
