Deceived by the family of a religious figure, the former beauty queen aborted an out-of-wedlock pregnancy

FORMER national beauty queen, Nor Shakila Mohammad Saiful Islam talks to lawyer, Faizal Rahman about her case in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur.

WILLING to miscarry and risk your own health for love.

That is the regret of former beauty queen who is also an actress, Shakila Saiful, 27, who claims that she was deceived and betrayed by her own husband.

Either way, because of loves, she is willing to abort her child out of wedlock before.

Shakila Saiful said that she aborted the one-month-old twin fetuses at the beginning of last year despite initially refusing to do the cursed act.

However, after being persuaded by her husband’s family who had a religious background, on the grounds that fatwas in two states legalized it, Shakila was willing to do it (abortion).

Before that she and her husband got married on May 22 last year as a promise to abort the fetus.

However, what made Shakila feel wronged was when her husband filed for divorce in the sharia court on November 24 last year, which is about six months after they got married.

“In January last year, I was confirmed pregnant as a result of my relationship with my husband who was still my boyfriend at the time.

“He knew from the beginning about my pregnancy and persuaded me to abort the pregnancy and even my pregnancy was also known to his father whom I call Walid because my husband himself informed his father who is also a religious figure to get his opinion.

“Even though I insisted not to abort my pregnancy, my husband has persuaded and convinced me that the act of abortion is not illegal and he also promised to marry me after I have an abortion,” she said.

Also present was the lawyer representing her, Faizal Rahman.

“Although I insisted not to abort my pregnancy, my husband persuaded…” – Shakila Saiful

Shakila previously won the title of Miss Lumiere International World Borneo 2021, Miss India Worldwide Malaysia 2018 (Miss Beautiful Skin) and Miss Malaysia Kebaya 2017/2018.

Other titles are Ratu Kebaya 2017, Ratu Cheongsam 2017 and Miss Petite Malaysia World 2016 in third place who also holds the Miss Popularity category.

Commenting further, Shakila told, after six months of marriage, she had suffered a miscarriage

According to the doctor who treated her, she had experienced a chemical pregnancy, which was an impression that the removal of the womb had been done before.

According to her, eight days after suffering a miscarriage, her husband filed for divorce in the sharia court on grounds that were completely unreasonable.

She said that because of her husband’s actions, she had experienced such severe depression that she had attempted suicide before.

“I didn’t think I would be divorced after eight days of having a miscarriage. It’s even sadder that after the divorce was filed, my husband and his family ignored me and left me to deal with this problem alone.

“WhatsApp and the phone calls I made were not answered or answered at all,” he said.

Threatened for complaining

Shakila said that after feeling neglected, she tried to connect with her father-in-law on social media and also expressed her feelings and told all the real stories including the abortion she had done before.

“In response to my actions of trying to complain to my own father-in-law, I was threatened by unknown individuals.

“My family also received death threats. In addition, there are also videos trying to vilify me on Youtube uploaded by unknown individuals.

“After receiving the threats and criticism, I appointed a lawyer to advise me, after which I understood that the fatwa referred to by my husband and his father did not apply to me who was pregnant out of wedlock at that time,” she said.

Shakila admitted that she now feels deceived by the actions of her husband and father-in-law.

“If they had not misused the Perlis and Pahang fatwas, it is certain that I would not have aborted my pregnancy as the doctor himself confirmed that I was pregnant with twins.

“Not only did I lose my twins but I also miscarried the baby I conceived after our marriage.

“My purpose in holding this press conference is not to humiliate anyone but to inform the public of the true facts to be careful in accepting religious views from anyone because at the beginning of this year I found out that Walid had once again spread the Perlis and Pahang fatwa in in a forum.

“I also want to spread the understanding of how religion is used for personal gain and be careful for women out there,” she said.
