SIX premises that operate restaurants, pubs, nightclubs and entertainment centers around the Cheras Parliament and Bukit Bintang were raided by the Enforcement Department, Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) recently.

The Special Action for Risky Premises (Clubs/Entertainment Premises) Series Four 2023 was implemented after receiving information that the premises in question had violated license conditions.

EVIDENCE of ‘rambo’ traders stealing electricity

According to a post posted by DBKL’s official Facebook , three closure actions were taken immediately and equipment was also confiscated under Section 17, Entertainment Act 1992.

“This includes opening three investigation papers (IP) under Section 4(1)(a) and 4(1)(b) for holding entertainment activities ( live band /DJ) without permission) of the Entertainment Rules (WPKL) 1993.

“We also confiscated 16 different musical equipment from the three premises, involving tablets , turntables, microphones, speakers, mixers, microphone controllers and sound controllers,” he said.

DBKL said all the equipment had been sent to Stor Sitaan, Jalan Lombong, Taman Miharja for documentation and temporary storage before further action against the owner of the premises.

“This enforcement action will continue from time to time according to the parliamentary focus areas in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur,” he said.

Meanwhile, DBKL also took action to confiscate nine stalls and business tents left after doing business on the side and shoulder of the road including blocking pedestrian paths around Kuala Lumpur.

DBKL in a statement said the operation was carried out by 18 law enforcement officers and DBKL Branch Office staff under Section 46(1) of the Roads, Drains and Buildings Act 1974 in the vicinity of Kota Lake and Taman Melati.

“Traders were subject to enforcement action because they were found to be building permanent structures on public roads, connecting electricity ‘illegally’ from public lampposts and leaving business equipment on site.

“This kind of action will continue from time to time against those who break the rules,” he said.

According to DBKL, all confiscated business equipment has been transferred to DBKL’s Seized Store Jalan Lombong, Taman Miharja, Kuala Lumpur.
