DBKL raided 53 illegal premises, 12 compounds were issued in the city center

A TOTAL of 53 illegal premises were raided by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) through the Special Action on Risky Premises (hotels and boarding houses) Series 7 and Series 8 of 2023 recently.

DBKL said the raids were carried out around Cheras and Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.

“A total of 53 premises have been inspected and enforcement actions have been taken against the activities of business premises involving hotels and guesthouses,” he said in a post on DBKL’s official Facebook page .

He added that 12 compound notices have been issued against hotel premises and boarding houses that operate without permission.

“As a result of the inspection carried out, a total of 12 compounds were issued under the Hotel Act (WPKL) 2023. In addition, five compound notices against premises that do not have a billboard license under the Small Advertisements Act (WPKL) 198 were also issued,” he said.

DBKL said monitoring will continue to be carried out around the focus areas to crack down on illegal premises.

“DBKL will continue monitoring and inspecting the activities of boarding houses and budget hotels around the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur in stages to ensure that they operate in accordance with the guidelines set by the authorities.

“People who have any information related to offenses against the activities of guesthouses and budget hotels around Kuala Lumpur can submit complaints through adukl.dbkl.gov.my ,” he said.

In the meantime, DBKL also continued the Selayang Daily Market Action where through this action seven business activities carried out by foreigners were confiscated and 17 notices were issued.

“Enforcement action is taken under rule 16 (1) and Bylaw 3 (1),” said DBKL enforcement action will continue from time to time.
