DBKL introduces mobile surau, simplifying the affairs of Muslims and participating in programs around the capital

Muslims who participate in outdoor programs around the nation’s capital now find it easier to fulfill the third pillar of Islam following the initiative of the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to renovate one unit of its mobile office as a mobile surau.

The mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Datuk Seri Mahadi Che Ngah, said that the surau was moved using a 10-ton lorry equipped with air conditioning and ablution facilities with a 900 liter water tank that could accommodate the needs of 600 worshippers.

“At any time, this mobile surau can accommodate 10 male and female worshipers at one time while another 20 male worshipers can be accommodated in the area outside the lorry as it is also equipped with an awning.

“This facility will benefit visitors involved in ad-hoc programs such as marathons and independence day celebrations.

“This mobile surau can be placed in an area where many people gather such as Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman which is closed to vehicles every Sunday,” he told reporters after the launch of the mobile surau on Sunday.

The SURAU travels using a 10-ton lorry equipped with air conditioning and ablution facilities with a 900 liter water tank that can accommodate the needs of 600 pilgrims.

Elaborating further, Mahadi said the mobile surau is also equipped with a generator that can last for more than 10 to 12 hours and it is regulated by two drivers who will carry out preliminary layout work and determining the direction of the Qibla.

At the same event, Mahadi also launched a new vehicle used by the DBKL Rescue Squad, the Rapid Response Vehicle (RRV) to facilitate emergency work around the city, including natural disasters such as fallen trees or objects blocking public paths, in addition to dealing with wild animals. and poisonous like snakes, bees and wasps.

“DBKL already has an understanding with other rescue agencies such as the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, if it involves the threat of poisonous animals and does not involve life, the DBKL Rescue Squad will provide immediate assistance,” he said.
