Dayangku Intan joined Pas
SEREMBAN: Popular singer of the 1980s, Dayangku Intan or real name Tengku Intan Abdul Hamid announced to join PAS on Saturday.
She admitted that she did not expect to be with PAS because he was afraid of the Islamic party, especially her status as an artist.
“I was bombarded with various stories about Pas. So I was scared, plus I’m an artist.
“But recalling the 13th General Election (GE13), I was actually on the PAS stage a lot to bring victory to PR (Pakatan Rakyat) at that time,” she said.
She said this when he was met at a press conference announcing the participation of Seremban Division UMNO Youth Leader, Zool Amali Hussin in PAS.
She explained that, at that time, there were many members of Pas Muslimat who invited him to join the party, but her heart was still not open.
Dayangku Intan added, her decision to join PAS was not to get any remuneration but to be interested in the party’s way of doing things.
“So if I am called to give a talk to invite people to join PAS I am ready,” she said.
Dayangku Intan’s participation in politics initially started with UMNO, but she chose to join the People’s Justice Party (PKR) in 2012 before deciding to leave the party after PR was dissolved in 2015.
She also contested on the PKR ticket in the Pengerang parliamentary seat, Johor in GE13, but lost.
