Dain Said is back with a new work Harum Malam
KUALA LUMPUR: Being blessed with the advantage of having a ‘sixth’ sense makes Iqbal’s life restless.
Often disturbed by subtle beings and threats from the supernatural world make it difficult for him to distinguish between reality and the supernatural.
The mysterious life of Iqbal is the core of a new film directed by the country’s famous director, Dain Said, titled Harum Malam, which will be in cinemas from February 9, 2023.
According to Dain, he is excited to return to directing a horror film after the script for Dukun was well received when it was screened in 2018.
“The last time I directed the horror movie Dukun was in 2006. I can’t wait for the movie Harum Malam to meet local movie audiences, especially horror movie fans, in February next year,” said Dain in a statement issued today.
Harum Malam stars leading actors including Bront Palarae, Remy Ishak, Nadiya Nissa, Nabila Huda, Amanda Ang, Joey Daud and Faizal Hussein.
The film also features young actors Idan Aedan, Arnie Shasha and Angelica Petra.
The script produced by the production company Apparat will be in collaboration with D’Ayu Pictures and Skop Productions and published with funds from the National Film Corporation of Malaysia (FINAS).
Meanwhile, Harum Malam will also be screened on an international stage, the World Premiere Festival at Fantastic Fest, the biggest horror and fantasy genre film festival in North America with the title Blood Flower.
Other films that have been shown at the festival include the film Spilt (2016), directed by M. Night Shyamalan and There Will Be Blood (2007) directed by Paul Thomas Anderson which will take place in Austin, Texas on September 22-29, 2022.
Not only that, Harum Malam has also secured a slot to be screened at the Sitges Film Festival in Spain next October.
