Czech Film Festival returns with lighthearted comedies
Running from September 23-25, the festival features five films that will be free to watch at the Mid Valley Megamall GSC cinema
THE Czech Film Festival is back after being gone for two years with its third edition of a fun-filled movie ensemble. Organised by the Embassy of the Czech Republic, the festival is set to run from September 23 to 25.
The Czech Film Festival this year partners up with Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC), Knowmad Productions and Cinema Online, to share Czechia-made comedies from the past 50 years, which they describe as timeless and of high quality. The films have been specially curated to lighten the moods and spirits of cinemagoers after over two years of the pandemic.
Cinemagoers will have the opportunity to experience the best Czechia comedies beloved by multiple generations of Czech citizens.
The gleeful collection of Czechia comedy films includes I Enjoy the World with You, a 1983 film about three middle-aged men who go for a vacation with their children in the hopes of learning how to cope with their needs without the guidance of their wives.
Saturnin is a film from 1994, which explores the friendship between Jiri Oulicky, a gentleman who lacks determination and self-confidence, and his butler (the titular) Saturnin, who has both.
In addition, Women in Temptation (2010) circles around the efforts of a marriage counsellor who’s looking for a new partner after she catches her husband with a younger woman.
River Rascals, a 2017 family comedy, is about a trio of siblings and cousins who embark on a comical canoe adventure down a river with their children in tow.
Lastly, the recently released Princess Cursed in Time is a combination of comedy and adventure. It is a tale that follows a princess with the power to re-live the same day over and over, where she is the only hope to save her kingdom from oncoming darkness.
Festival enthusiasts can visit the three-day Czech Film Festival 2022 at GSC cinemas in Mid Valley Megamall. All movies featured in this festival are free to watch.
Log on to the GSC Cinema website or on the mobile app to secure tickets. Available on a first-come, first-served basis, those interested can already book their tickets now. Tickets can also be redeemed at the GSC Mid Valley ticketing counters.
The Czech Film Festival has been an outlet for Czechia and Malaysia to have a cultural exchange since its establishment in 2017. The Embassy of the Czech Republic cordially invites Malaysians and anyone interested to grab this opportunity to experience a wonderful showcase from Central Europe.
