Cyber Security Malaysia investigates the leakage of personal data of MySejahtera users

KUALA LUMPUR: Cyber Security Malaysia (CSM) has been ordered to investigate reports regarding the leakage of personal information of users of the MySejahtera application, said Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

He said further action will be taken by the Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) after receiving the complete report of the CSM investigation.

“Regarding the issue (information leakage) of MySejahtera… I have asked the CSM to investigate, examine and understand who has actually accessed the ‘Super Admin’ account of the MySejahtera application.

“It is believed that a very large amount of (personal) data may have been taken out,” he said during the closing session of the debate on the Motion to Uphold the Royal Decree for the Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) in the Dewan Rakyat today.

In the Auditor General’s Report (LKAN) 2021 Series 2 revealed that there were 1.12 million attempts to break into the MySejahtera application with approximately three million of the application’s user information reportedly accessed suspiciously from the ‘Super Admin’ account.
