Congratulations Michelle Yeoh, the Oscar is finally within grasp
The film Everything Everywhere All at Once won seven trophies at the 95th Academy Awards which took place at the Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles, USA, today.
LOS ANGELES: As predicted, Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh made the most glorious history in her artistic career when she was named Best Actress at the 95th Academy Awards (Oscars 2023) just now.
At the glorious event held at the Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles, United States, the Malaysian-born actor won the award through his performance in the movie Everything Everywhere All at Once.
Michelle, 61, who was elegant in a white dress could not hide her joy when she was on stage while receiving the trophy that is coveted by actors from all over the world.
In the joy, Michelle did not forget to dedicate her sweetest victory to her mother, Datin Janet Yeoh who is always mentioned as the backbone of her success.
“I will bring this trophy home to my mother who is watching (the Academy Awards event) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with all my family and friends,” said Michelle in her speech.
“To all the boys and girls who are like me watching tonight, this success is a pillar of hope and many possibilities. It is also a proof that dream with big dreams and dreams also come true,” said Michelle again.
The Best Actress Oscar trophy that is now in Michelle’s grasp is also considered to be drawing another new history in the international film industry.
Accompanied by her fiancee, Jean Todt, the successful star born in Ipoh, Perak became the first non-white woman to win the category after a gap of two decades, since Halle Berry won it in 2002.
For the Best Actress category, Michelle faces rival Andrea Riseborough who starred in the movie To Leslie; Cate Blanchett (Tar); Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans) and Ana de Armas (Blonde).
The name of the actress who played the role of Evelyn Quan Wang in the film directed by Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert was mentioned as a candidate to win the category.
Michelle has also previously won the same trophy at several award ceremonies including the Golden Globe Awards and the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG).
In addition to the Best Actress category won by Michelle, the film Everything Everywhere All at Once also won six other categories at the Academy Awards.
The categories are Best Film and Best Director.
Not to be left out, Everything Everywhere All at Once took home the Best Supporting Actress trophy which was held by Jamie Lee Curtis and the Best Supporting Actor was won by Ke Huy Quan.
Other categories that Everything Everywhere All at Once also won were Best Screenplay and Best Editing.
