Composer Wan Zul died of a lung infection
KEMAMAN: Composer of the popular song of the Iklim group, Wan Zulkifli Che Wan Abdul Ghani or better known as Wan Zul died at Kemaman Hospital here early Thursday morning.
His younger brother, Che Wan Zuhaini, 58, said Wan Zul, 61, who was previously reported to be critical breathed his last at about 2.20am due to a bacterial infection in his lungs due to melioidosis.
According to him, the deceased was admitted to the hospital on October 2 after a severe fever and cough, and was put to sleep twice during treatment.
“The deceased previously had to rely on a breathing aid and was put to sleep after his health deteriorated.
“The deceased became stable last Saturday and was able to speak and showed a good response, but he was again put to sleep on Monday because his condition deteriorated again,” he said when contacted here on Thursday.
Che Wan Zuhaini said that he understood that the diabetes that the deceased suffered from caused his body’s antibodies to become weaker and unable to fight bacterial infections.
He said that the body of the deceased is now in the hospital and will be taken back to his residence in Kampung Baru Kijal.
“The dead will be buried at the Kijal Islamic Cemetery after the noon prayer later,” he said.
The late Wan Zul left a wife, Tengku Siti Famah and a couple of children, Che Wan Nursyikin and Che Wan Nuradli.
Throughout his career, the deceased produced popular songs of the Iklim group, among them Suci Dalam Debu, Alas Seribu Kali Sayang and Biography Cinta Luka.
The deceased also created songs that were also sung by other groups and singers such as Hanya Satu Persinggahan (Ekamatra), Between the Sutras and the Moon (Damasutra), Kerana Takdir (Saleem), Itulah Cintaku (Ilusi) and several other songs.
