Composer Atticus Ross to Receive BMI Icon Award at 2025 Ceremony

LOS ANGELES – April 13, 2025 – Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) will honor Atticus Ross with the BMI Icon Award at its 41st Annual Film, TV & Visual Media Awards, recognizing his prolific contributions to the world of cinematic and television music. The event will take place on May 14 in Beverly Hills, hosted by BMI’s top executives Mike O’Neill and Tracy McKnight.

Ross’s innovative scoring style and extensive collaborations, especially with Trent Reznor, have made a lasting mark in visual storytelling. Their award-winning soundtracks for films like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Empire of Light, and Bones and All are regarded among the most influential of the past decade.

“Atticus Ross stands out for his ability to push the boundaries of traditional scoring,” said McKnight. “His music doesn’t just support a story—it transforms it.”

Ross’s achievements span beyond film. He’s contributed to critically acclaimed TV projects like Watchmen and The Vietnam War, and teamed up with his brother and wife for projects like Triple 9 and Dear Mama. His recent collaboration on Shōgun with Nick Chuba and Leopold Ross earned multiple award nominations.

As part of Nine Inch Nails, Ross continues to be a major force in modern rock, and is set to score the new installment of Tron under the band’s name. He and Reznor also co-founded With Teeth, a creative venture spanning production, music festivals, and consumer products.

Ross’s BMI Icon Award adds to an already distinguished list of recipients, including legends such as Alan Silvestri, James Newton Howard, and Mike Post. Across his career, Ross has earned 19 BMI Awards.
