Color the waterfall for ‘gender reveal’, Brazilian couple investigated
MATO GROSSO: Brazil’s Environment Ministry is questioning a couple who allegedly dyed a waterfall blue as part of their surprise gender reveal party .
The action is feared to contaminate the water supply in nearby towns.
The couple came under fire after they uploaded a video on Instagram showing a waterfall turning blue as a symbol of having a baby boy.
The video has been deleted from their social media, but it is still available to watch as many have downloaded the video.
The couple will be charged for polluting the Queima Pé river which is a popular tourist destination in Mato Grosso, a state surrounded by Amazon rainforest, wetlands and savanna plains.
It is also the main water source for the town of Tangará da Serra.
In a statement issued by the State Secretary for the Environment of Mato Grosso (SEMA), the department will conduct an investigation to determine the material used to color the waterfall and if it has polluted the environment.
