Coldplay’s concert must not interfere with Harimau Malaya’s action
THE PRESIDENT of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin will not allow the Coldplay concert that will take place on November 22 at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium to interfere with the 2027 Asian Cup Qualifying match that will be held the day before.
According to Hamidin, he will ensure that the same incident that saw only 21,000 seats available at the semi-final of the AFF Cup against Thailand on January 7 because it gave way to preparations for Jay Chou’s concert does not happen again.
“I have actually discussed this matter with the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hannah Yeoh and also with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Malaysian Stadium Corporation (PSM), Mohd Faidz Sanusi.
“I have stated to the minister that this is the second time this has happened. This cannot happen again. He agreed because we have informed him of our contract with PSM.
“Everything is in the FIFA calendar and also if you want to do anything, you need to inform us. If not, it’s better not to have a contract with PSM, it’s better we go to another stadium,” he said.
However, Hamidin explained that any further action will be taken once the vote has taken place if the Malaya Tigers have to play at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
“We have made several preparations to see if the match takes place on November 21 at the National Stadium.
“This concert is right outside the FIFA calendar, but the preparations took five or six days and made some of them unusable. Anyway, we have to wait for July for the vote and I have also discussed with the AFC,” he said.
