Chinese women raising Muslim girls receive the Maulidur Rasul Award
KUALA LUMPUR: A retired Chinese kindergarten teacher, Chee Hoi Lan was selected as the recipient of this year’s Maulidur Rasul Award.
The 83-year-old Chee was chosen for his merits in raising a Muslim child according to Islamic teachings. She received the award in the True Mother-Family Icon of Malaysia category.
The woman raised her adopted child, Rohana Abdullah who is a Muslim at the age of two months after being abandoned by her mother who was an Indonesian maid where Chee used to work.
