Budget 2023: The Halal Waqaf of PKS OKU is something that is eagerly awaited – Ras Adiba
KUALA LUMPUR: The government’s move to fuel the development of the halal industry by introducing the Halal Endowment for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) for Persons with Disabilities (OKU) is something that has been eagerly awaited for a long time, said Senator Datuk Ras Adiba Radzi.
She who was satisfied with the entire Budget 2023 involving the disabled said the good news was among the matters discussed with Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.
“(Besides that) one of the interesting things and what we are looking forward to is the e-hailing service that goes from house to house, especially for disabled people who use wheelchairs and we saw earlier that there is also the use of ambulift for disabled people who fly to Sabah and Sarawak, ” she said after the presentation of the 2023 Budget, here today.
The president of OKU Sentral was also satisfied with the allocation of RM12 million specifically for the development of sports for the disabled in addition to the allocation of RM20 million to supply teaching equipment and improve facilities in schools with special needs.
“So this budget for me is a victory… I have already recommended 11 (proposals for the disabled) and of those 11 I can say more than half have been achieved, thank God,” she said who is also the Chairman of the Malaysian National News Organization (Bernama ).
Tengku Zafrul at the presentation of the 2023 Budget themed ‘Malaysian Family, Prosper Together’ at the Dewan Rakyat today said the welfare of the disabled will continue to be given attention in addition to implementing initiatives that are able to polish the potential of the disabled to contribute to their own economy.
Tengku Zafrul said a total of RM1.2 billion in allocations were made available for that group, among them through aid for the care of chronic patients, allowances for disabled people unable to work and allowances for disabled workers.
Meanwhile, in Kelantan, Drawi @ Md Arif Ab Latif, 76, who is physically disabled, said the government’s move to waive registration and business license renewal fees under the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) to encourage more disabled people to do business will facilitate and attract the interest of that is to start a business.
“With that, the disabled can continue to do business and think about strategies or efforts to expand existing businesses,” he said, who is from Bachok and now runs a sewing business.
Kelantan Welfare, Family Development and Women’s Committee chairman Datuk Mumtaz Md Nawi said that so far there are almost 30,000 disabled people involved in business in the state.
