Bruce Willis denies selling his face for use in ‘deepfake’ technology

A SPEAKER for actor Bruce Willis has denied reports that the movie star has sold the rights to his face.

Last week, international media reported Willis, in a first-of-its-kind deal, had sold his face to a deepfake company called Deepcake.

However, a spokesperson for the actor told the BBC that “no partnership or agreement” was made with the company.

Willis announced her retirement from acting in March after being diagnosed with aphasia, a disorder that affects speech.

Deepfake uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning technology to create realistic videos, which usually involve celebrities or politicians.

For actors who no longer act, this technology has the potential to change the situation.

On September 27, the Daily Mail portal reported that an agreement had been reached between Willis and Deepcake.

“Two-time Emmy winner Bruce Willis could still appear in films after selling his image rights to Deepcake,” the report said.
