Borneo Music Festival is back with DJ Soda
KUCHING: More than 5,000 visitors from all over the world flooded the main square of the Borneo Music Festival (BMF) 2022 at the Sarawak Cultural Village (SCV) here on Friday.
The Electronic Dance Music (EDM) genre festival for the first time featured an international artist from South Korea, DJ Soda or real name Hwang So-Hee.
The presence of the female artist with more than 4.5 million followers on social media managed to steal the spotlight through her prowess and expertise in remixing the soundtrack of the original song to the lively rhythm of EDM.
The highlight performance by DJ Soda for the first night of BMF 2022 featured some music from Cranbarries-Zombie, David Guetta-Titanium and the latest song from Blackpink, Pink Venom.
The festival which lasts for two days from 9 to 10 September 2022 promises the best experience for EDM music fans who are the craze of today’s young generation.
In addition to DJ Soda, another international artist, DJ Alan Walker will perform on the closing night of BMF 2022.
The 25-year-old Norwegian-born artist is expected to rock the BMF stage with his masterpiece Faded which has received Platinum awards in 14 countries and has over 3 billion views on YouTube.
For one of the audience, Shahrul Qaizat, 25, it was his first time visiting BMF and a big fan of DJ Alan Walker since 2012.
“I started listening to Alan Walker’s songs from 2012 and Alone Part 2 became my main choice as I am a fan of games and the song Alone is used as one of the background songs in PUBG,” he said.
In addition, Viviana Lin Winston, 22, and her friend Julie Minele, 23, are also excited and very happy with the organization of the festival which is considered the most lively ever organized in the state this year.
“I feel quite happy to see this kind of atmosphere. After two years without any event due to the pandemic, of course a festival like this has revived the spirit and has begun to see us return to normal life,”
“We are very fond of Alan Walker because of his musical arrangements and songs that have a lot of impact in our lives as well as uplift the spirit of young people,” he said.
The performance started from 5pm until 10.30pm and involved more than 15 artists as well as local and international groups of musicians including Buloh Berkocak and Tuku Kame.
BMF 2022 exclusively brings together artists from six countries specially brought by Amazing Aurora Entertainment and organized by Firmament Event Studio in collaboration with More Entertainment.
