
Borneo Kraf Festival targets 30,000 visitors, selling value more than RM400,000
KOTA KINABALU: The 3rd Borneo Craft Festival (FKB) aims to collect sales of RM400,000 with a target of 30,000 visitors at One Borneo Hypermall, Kota Kinabalu this year.
The Director General of Malaysian Handicrafts, Ainu Sham Ramli said, although the target is less than the revenue in 2018, it is still realistic based on the current situation.
For the record, in 2018, the Borneo Craft Festival recorded sales of RM1.12 million with the involvement of 119 entrepreneurs and attracted more than 30,000 visitors.
“FKB this year is targeting a total of RM400,000 worth of total sales through the participation of 58 entrepreneurs while the target number of visitors is 30,000 people.
“The organization of FKB in 2018 which was held at Lintasan Deasoka and 2019 at Suria Sabah Shopping Center managed to generate a sales value of RM1.12 million.
“This is through the participation of 199 craft entrepreneurs from Sabah and Sarawak with the number of visitors exceeding 30,000”, he said.
Meanwhile, Ainu also said that the voucher incentive for the purchase of Malaysian craft products announced by the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri recently also applies to every sales stall at the Borneo Craft Festival 2022.
According to her, the voucher incentive offers a discount of RM30.00 for every purchase of craft products worth RM100.
“The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture has announced the granting of additional incentive vouchers for the purchase of Malaysian craft products amounting to RM3.0 million to be offered from 16 September 2022 in conjunction with the Malaysia Day Celebration.
“A voucher offer worth RM30.00 for every multiple of RM100.00 purchase of Malaysian craft products can be found at all promotional programs organized by Malaysian Crafts including at FKB 2022”, added Ainu.
Borneo Craft Festival 2022, held for the first time since the COVID-19 Pandemic, will last for 18 days from 23 September to 10 October 2022, from 10.00am to 10.00pm at the Main Atrium, One Borneo Hypermall, Kota Kinabalu.
