Biden signed a condolence book in honor of Queen Elizabeth II

WASHINGTON: President of the United States (US) Joe Biden and wife Jill Biden visited the British Embassy in Washington DC to sign a tribute book in honor of Queen Elizabeth II’s passing on Thursday.

The arrival of Biden and his wife was greeted by British Ambassador Dame Karen Pierce and her husband at about 6pm eastern time (2300GMT).

“We are also saddened… She is a wonderful woman, I am very happy to have had the opportunity to meet her,” said Biden. He also thanked the embassy staff.

Meanwhile Jill Biden said he will always be remembered.

Queen Elizabeth II, 96, the longest-serving monarch in British history. According to Buckingham Palace, he died at Balmoral Castle, Scotland.

His Majesty was previously reported to be suffering from health problems due to his age and had to cancel several events on doctor’s advice.

The last time Queen Elizabeth II appeared in public was during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June in conjunction with the 70th anniversary of her reign.

According to a statement released Thursday afternoon, Queen Elizabeth II is under “medical supervision” at Balmoral in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
