Because of the character in Basic Instinct, Sharon Stone lost custody of the child

ACTRESS Sharon Stone says one of her roles in a hit movie cost her custody of a child in 2004.

Her actions in the movie Basic Instinct in 1992 caused the perception of him to be tainted, she said in an interview through a podcast.

Stone said the court judge asked her son, who was 4 at the time, if he knew his mother was in a sex film.

Stone and her husband Ron Bronstein adopted Roan in 2000.

But the couple divorced in 2004 and a court judge gave full custody of the child to Bronstein.

That made Stone depressed, she told Bruce Bozzi on the Table for Two show.

“The episode was only for a few seconds but it caused me to lose custody of my child,” she said.

Stone was also looked down upon by her peers in Hollywood for her role as Catherine Tramell, a novelist who tries to seduce a police detective played by Michael Douglas.

“I received a Golden Globe nomination for the role and when my name was announced, there was a lot of laughter.

“I was very shy at that time. They didn’t understand how difficult it was to play that character,” she said.

Since the incident, Stone said, she has avoided accepting offers to play female characters that are closely associated with the dark side or that demand a sexy and seductive personality.

At the same time, Stone urged her fans not to confuse the difference between an actor’s performance and their character.
