Artists are invited to shoot in Perak
PASIR SALAK: The state government always welcomes film or drama productions to shoot in appropriate locations in Perak, thus giving a promotional impact to the local tourism sector.
After the extraordinary success of the film Mat Kilau: Kebangkitan Pahlawan directed by Syamsul Yusof before, it can be seen that Perak also received a boost due to one of its filming locations in Padang Koba, Teluk Bakong.
Chairman of the Perak State Housing, Local Government and Tourism Committee, Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohamed Radzi said, if it is true that the filming of the film Pasir Salak-King of The River continues, it will certainly be another good news for the tourism sector in the state.

“We welcome it, of course. It is very possible (filming in Perak). Even before this, the film Mat Kilau was made here (Padang Koba), until it became popular in the area.
“Actually, we welcome locations in Perak to be used as filming locations for movies or dramas.
“If we look at examples in Bollywood or Hollywood, usually any place that is used as a filming location and if the film is a ‘ box office ‘, they will indeed invite visitors to see that location.
“Thus it is able to promote interesting areas in the state, people can know the history and heritage that is here,” he said.
He said this in response to a recent media report that Syamsul had discussed with the son of the late Tan Sri Jins Shamsuddin who was interested in resuming his late father’s film project, Pasir Salak-King of The River which had been stalled for a long time.
If the filming is done here, indirectly he said it will add value in terms of heritage and history tourism in Pasir Salak in particular and Perak in general.
In the meantime, Nolee Ashilin said that previously the state government also helped to make the film that was shot in Perak a success.
“Often when they come (for filming) there is indeed a request for help from the state government. We are also there for a small donation and incentive when they do a film project.
“It’s not that much (donations), but we do sponsor food, drinks and accommodation. Everything is based on application and according to suitability,” he added.
