
Ariana Grande in Tears After Receiving First Oscar Nomination for Wicked Role
Ariana Grande has made a remarkable leap from music to acting, earning her first-ever Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Glinda in the highly anticipated Wicked movie.
Nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the 97th Academy Awards, Grande joins a prestigious group of nominees, including Monica Barbaro (A Complete Unknown), Felicity Jones (The Brutalist), Isabella Rossellini (Conclave), and Zoe Saldaña (Emilia Pérez).
The news left Grande overwhelmed with emotion. “I’m still processing this, and I can’t stop crying from the honor the Oscars have given me,” she shared on Instagram. “It’s so exciting and surreal, I can hardly believe it.”
In an interview with Deadline, she expressed immense gratitude for the opportunity to play Glinda. “This is my first acting role, and it’s truly the greatest gift. Can you even imagine that I’m nominated for an Oscar?” she said, still in awe of the recognition.
The 97th Academy Awards will take place on March 2, 2025, in Hollywood.
