Apple Pay has finally arrived in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR: One of the most requested features by local Apple users, Apple Pay, has finally arrived in Malaysia with three supporting banks namely Maybank, AmBank and Standard Chartered.
The feature, which became available today, allows users to make contactless payments with iOS devices such as the iPhone and Apple Watch.
To do so, users must first save their bank card details in the Wallet app on their iOS device.
Once saved, they can start verifying payments using Face ID or Touch ID.
For offline purchases, users can make payments with NFC.
Apple Pay can also be used as an online payment method for platforms such as Shopee.
The service also supports payment for apps and games on the App Store.
Malaysia is the ninth country in Asia Pacific and the second in Southeast Asia to accept Apple Pay after Singapore in April 2016.
Apple Pay was first announced in September 2014 during the launch of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, before it was rolled out to consumers in the United States the following month.
