Annenberg Foundation Hosts “LA CHECK IN” Livestream to Support L.A. Fire Victims and First Responders
January 19, 2025 – Los Angeles, CA – In a powerful display of community and resilience, the Annenberg Foundation, in partnership with renowned artists D-Nice, will.i.am, DJ Hed, and actor-philanthropist Etienne Maurice, will host “LA CHECK IN” – a livestream benefit aimed at supporting those affected by the devastating wildfires across Los Angeles. The event will take place on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 6 PM PT and will be streamed on Instagram, YouTube, and Twitch.
This special event promises a night of hope, unity, and recovery, featuring uplifting music from D-Nice and DJ Hed, stories of resilience, and crucial updates on resources available for fire victims. Inspired by D-Nice’s successful “Club Quarantine” sessions during the pandemic, LA CHECK IN seeks to bring the Los Angeles community together during a time of crisis. Viewers can expect heartfelt conversations with local heroes, surprise celebrity guests, and valuable information on how to assist those impacted by the fires.
The livestream will raise funds for fire recovery efforts and provide support to a wide range of individuals affected by the wildfires, including first responders, evacuees, and vulnerable groups such as the elderly, animals, and the homeless. In addition, the Annenberg Foundation will contribute to nonprofits working with these populations through targeted grants.
“These fires ravaged Los Angeles, and we are committed to helping the community rebuild,” said Wallis Annenberg, Chairman of the Board, President, and CEO of the Annenberg Foundation. “Through LA CHECK IN, we aim to offer healing, resources, and a sense of togetherness in this time of crisis.”
Grammy-winning musician and philanthropist will.i.am emphasized the importance of community involvement. “Teaming up with the Annenberg Foundation and fellow musicians for fire relief is essential for bringing us together,” he stated. “It’s an honor to work with the i.am Angel Foundation, which empowers disadvantaged youth through STEM education and robotics.”
Derrick “D-Nice” Jones, the event’s musical curator, reflected on the power of music and connection during difficult times. “Through LA CHECK IN, we aim to remind the community of the strength we have in each other,” he said. “This event will bring hope and healing in the wake of devastation.”
DJ Hed also shared his thoughts on the importance of community: “When disaster strikes, it’s a reminder that we’re all in this together. LA CHECK IN is our way of shining a light in a dark time and offering support to those in need.”
Fans and supporters can watch and participate in the event on D-Nice’s Instagram and will.i.am’s YouTube channel. For more information on LA CHECK IN and ongoing fire relief efforts, visit Annenberg Foundation.
